On the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the establishment and development of Mongolia’s Petroleum Sector, the XXXII International Scientific and Practical Conference organized under the theme “From Extraction to Production” was successfully held on May 29, 2026.

The conference was jointly organized by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, the Mineral Resources and Petroleum Authority, Mongol Refinery State Owned LLC, and the Department of Petroleum and Drilling Engineering of the School of Geology and Mining Engineering at the Mongolian University of Science and Technology.

Representatives of contractor companies operating in the conventional and unconventional petroleum sectors, as well as researchers, scientists, engineers, and specialists from Mongolia, India, China, and Russia, participated in the conference. Participants published scientific papers, presented the results of their research work, and engaged in discussions and exchanges of views during the presentation and panel sessions.

At the scientific conference, Mr. Khishigdala, Ch, Director of the Petroleum Policy Department of the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, delivered a presentation on “Reform of the Legal Environment of the Petroleum Sector”. Meanwhile, Mr. Chuluunbat. Ch, Director of the Petroleum and Petroleum Products Department of the Mineral Resources and Petroleum Authority, presented on “The Current State of the Petroleum Sector.”In their presentations, they introduced the policies and measures being implemented to improve the legal and regulatory framework of the petroleum sector, intensify exploration and production activities, and increase reserves. They also outlined the key challenges and difficulties facing the sector, along with possible approaches and solutions to address them. A total of 30 presentations were discussed during the conference.
